AND FINALLY: Why not fly?

Westminster’s daft antics!

At least Dominic Cummings used his own private car to travel between London and Durham (the only plus point with that foolish trip).

But former (as of today) Scottish Nationalist MP Margaret Ferrier has been even more stupid.

Not only has she flouted the law with respect to travel between Glasgow and the nation’s capital carrying Covid-19, but she chose to use the rail network for her journey.

Readers might like to know there are 12 flights even today between Glasgow International and the five active London airports, a much-reduced figure than hitherto.  Advertised flight time is 90min at the most.

Every fare paid goes to keep the airlines (and airports) alive.  The subsidised rail journey will take around 5hrs and cost £250 minimum (MPs travel First Class).

The First Class BA air fare is much the same and you will collect Avios points.

EasyJet use Gatwick, Luton and Stansted airports with the return cost starting at well under £100 including a £26 donation to Government called APD.  MPs can pay a little extra and sit up front!

However, BTN is not so sure the airlines will want Ms Ferrier if she has cause to travel to London again!  Even in these desperate times one can be choosey regarding passengers!

MPs no longer automatically travel First Class on trains - indeed, they are supposed not to, following the expenses scandal. Some claim that they book in advance to get the cheapest possible flexible fare and that's sometimes first class. Let's hope she did travel first class and infected fewer people!
