The daily Eastern Airways Teesside (MME) flight has transferred to Heathrow T2.
A spokesperson noted the change in passenger profile since the airport opened over 30 years ago, with an update on the business travel position:
“Last year 1.5 million people based in East London used the airport and, as we plan our recovery, this is a trend we want to build on so more local residents and businesses can use their own airport. The continued regeneration of the docklands and surrounding areas will certainly help drive this.
“Demand for business travel is still underlying and we’re confident it will return. London remains a global economic and cultural hub, and people still want to come here.
“What’s more, businesses and businesspeople tell us they still want to travel, to do deals in person and work with colleagues face-to-face. Our recent survey of business leaders in the UK showed 64% consider air travel to be important for the future of their business, and none of our largest customers have told us they plan to permanently change their travel policies.”
