Virgin to Pakistan

With Pakistan International Airlines still banned from Europe (see BTN 24 August) Virgin Atlantic has confirmed new services to both Lahore and Islamabad from Heathrow, and Islamabad from Manchester.

With the Heathrow to the Pakistan capital it will compete with British Airways who currently fly daily except on a Friday.

Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners will be used for both destinations, featuring a three-class layout.

From Heathrow Islamabad will be Sunday – Tuesday – Saturday, departing from T2 at (all times local) 12:30 and arriving in the early hours (01:00) the next day, leaving at 03:30 to enable an 07:00 landing.

Slots have been found at Lahore, also for Sunday – Tuesday – Saturday but with 21:50 departure and 10:20 arrival, turning around for a 13:25 take-off and back at 17:00.

Manchester – Islamabad are the same days departing 12:35 (arrives 01:00) and with the reverse flight at 03:30, also arriving 07:00.
