Thomas Cook returns?

It could well be that the name Thomas Cook, meaning travel, might well be back for the Christmas holiday booking season.

Back in November the historic brand was sold for £11m to the Chinese travel group and Club Med owner Fosun Tourism.   This followed Britain’s largest peacetime repatriation in an operation involving some 150 aircraft.

The current plan seems to be to bring back the company as an online travel agent, leaving behind the previous Thomas Cook interests including the airline, touring and high street travel agent interests.

A source told the BBC travel programme that Thomas Cook was “very keen to be up and running by Christmas. It’s when people’s thoughts turn to summer holidays, and there is likely to be a lot of pent up demand because of this year’s coronavirus cancellations.”

The company is located in 16 countries and is one of the largest conglomerates of its type in China.  It owns Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club in the English Football League.
