The UK Civil Aviation Authority is very good at publishing airport actual passenger numbers, usually two months behind, but is at the mercy of the airports in quickly supplying statistics. The full June figures out now show very clearly the dramatic drop on a year-to-year basis. The overall loss to the capital is extraordinary with just over half a million passengers moving through the six London airports in the month, as against 16m for the same month last year.
Gatwick | 28,910 | v | 4,517,617 | -99% |
Heathrow | 350,425 | v | 7,246,532 | -95% |
London City | closed | v | 461,798
Luton | 63,457 | v | 1,697,198 | -96% |
Southend | closed | v | 215,722
Stansted | 59,192 | v | 2,652,580 | -98% |
The numbers on each route are available, but it does not split that down to actual airlines. If there is a sole carrier on a route (say London City to New York) it is easy to see the numbers (just 845 in January, which shows why the BA001 was terminated).
Outside London only Aberdeen (-84%), with its offshore work, reported less than around -95% plus. Cardiff and Leeds closed for scheduled traffic.
