The British-Irish Airports EXPO Royal Docks leukaemia charity run (17:00 Monday 5 October) is to be started by Joanna Lumley, star of The New Avengers, Absolutely Fabulous and, most recently, the British Airways inflight safety video.
The 5km waterside route takes participants around the resurgent Royal Docks alongside London City Airport.
Miss Lumley will also present prizes to the winners including Fastest Airport, and Fastest Airline.
The race will raise funds for Anthony Nolan, a closely-held cause of British-Irish Airports EXPO Director, Paul Hogan, whose daughter Brontë passed away aged 12 battling leukaemia, a brave struggle which included two bone marrow transplants organised by Anthony Nolan.
The second-benefiting charity is children’s hospice Richard House which has a two-decade long partnership with London City Airport. Aer Lingus is the race’s Official Airline Partner.
