TUI returns

Essentially a holiday airline TUI Airways UK plans to resurrect its UK operations shortly.

From 11 July the Airlines UK member will initially be operating from Birmingham, Gatwick and Manchester airports. Other bases will be resumed during summer schedule, including Dublin from 23 July, Bristol and Glasgow from 25 July and following from 1 August Bournemouth, Cardiff, Doncaster, East Midlands, Exeter, Newcastle and Stansted.

Once known as Thomson Airways, TUI is based at Luton Airport and with the demise of Thomas Cook Airlines is Britain’s fourth largest air carrier flying just over 18m passengers in 2019.  It has an operational fleet of around 50 aircraft plus six grounded Boeing 737 Max and a further three waiting on delivery.  It flies the Boeing 787 on long-haul sectors and at the outbreak of the pandemic employed around 10,000 staff.
