Virgin Atlantic is back

The restart date of 20 July has been announced for Virgin Atlantic’s (VS) flights out of Heathrow.

Whether this is from T3 or T2 remains to be seen with Heathrow Airport Ltd faced with the difficult decision to expensively reopen its oldest terminal or continue with just T2 (and T5).  If the decision is Terminal 2 VS will need to find a new home for its Upper Class passengers, with a fine choice of lounges, but not quite the Virgin Clubhouse.

There are altogether 17 destinations.

Virgin’s 49% owner and codeshare partner on the North Atlantic routes, Delta Air Lines, currently operates only to Atlanta and Detroit.  No details yet of further reintroductions and the airline is not presently offering lounge facilities in its temporary T2 home.

All the restarts are dependent on travel restrictions lifting around the world.
