Hull trains

London North Eastern Railway (LNER)  last week reinstated its service between Hull and London King’s Cross.  This follows the closedown, for the time being, of Hull Trains, owned by First Group.

The service, which will also stop at Selby and Brough, will run once a day, in both directions, for key workers and for those for whom travel is essential.  LNER is also introducing an additional morning service between Doncaster and Hull.

LNER’s priority is to provide immediate assistance for key workers relying on train travel between Hull, Selby, Brough and London at this crucial time.

The company will accept tickets from customers with Hull Trains tickets as mutual ticket acceptance is already in place as part of the temporary reduced timetable.

LNER is owned by the Department for Transport (DfT), after it took over the InterCity East Coast franchise in June 2018, when the previous privately-owned operator Virgin Trains East Coast returned it to the government following sustained financial difficulties.
