One of the UK’s smallest airlines Eastern Airways continues to fly.
Part of the now US-based Bristow Group, Eastern can trace its history back over 20 years and owns Humberside Airport, its main base. It has an extensive network and is contracted with Cityflyer to operate certain routes under the British Airways banner.
As things stand next week it plans to operate a Humberside – Aberdeen – Humberside daily round trip and likewise Aberdeen – Newcastle – Aberdeen. These are both specifically for the key-worker offshore oil sector, and energy sector support.
Eastern plans to carry-on operating dedicated charter flights to the Shetland Isles for various energy companies and the rotary wing providers, including Aberdeen – Scatsta – Aberdeen, for the IAC Consortium up to four round-trips per day, and Aberdeen – Sumburgh – Aberdeen, for BP up to three round-trips per day.
