Southend Airport update

London’s smallest scheduled airport remains open, but for limited hours.

Whilst it was expected to move two million scheduled passengers this year it is also an important engineering base and logistic operation.  It is also popular for business and executive aircraft movements with the A27 dual carriageway offering easy access to East London, Essex and the Tilbury docks.

From today (30 March) Wizz Air will reduce its service to three weekly flights to Bucharest, whilst Loganair will maintain flights to Aberdeen and Derry at three times a week.  The Stobart business aviation centre is closed.

Glyn Jones, CEO of Southend Airport, said: “I am pleased that the airport will contribute to the local community and its economy by securing jobs and contributing to the economy.”
