Channel Island & Scillies

Aurigny, the Guernsey government-owned airline, has taken measures to provide greater separation to customers and has now capped to 32 passengers on its 72-seat ATRs and seven for the 19-seat Dornier aircraft.

All passengers will be pre-allocated a seat, and each individual will have to check-in at the Aurigny airport desk.

This week the airline plans to operate to Gatwick and Southampton but it will be very much based on the demand for seats.  The short flight to Alderney will operate with the Dornier but all services to Jersey are cancelled.

Owned by Healthspan Leisure Blue Islands, the Guernsey-based carrier, is continuing with its efforts to introduce an emergency air service between Cornwall Airport Newquay and Heathrow and further discussions are taking place.  Flights to Guernsey and Jersey from the mainland have ceased following stipulations from both governments that travellers must self-isolate for 14 days.  Special charters are still taking place.

Rob Veron, CEO Blue Islands, says: “We are a locally-owned and operated airline, with our heart in the Channel Islands, our Blue Islands team has worked incredibly hard over the last few weeks to manage the collapse of Flybe and to assist travellers in a time of great uncertainty and change. We would like to thank all of our customers for their continued support and understanding.

The Isles of Scilly are now all but cut off except for essential travellers.  With the regular freight ship Gry Maritha undergoing planned maintenance Scillonian III, the passenger ferry, will continue to carry freight supplies. A very limited Skybus service from Land’s End Airport will transport key workers only.

The Penzance Helicopters service from Penzance has been suspended.
