Fairmont brand to open in Ireland

Management of the historic Carton House hotel 20min from Dublin in Maytooth, County Kildare, is being taken over by Accor to become the first of its Fairmont brand properties in Ireland.

The building is undergoing a multi-million euro refurbishment in partnership with the owner, US-based luxury property investor Belmullet Hospitality Group. This is set to finish by the end of 2020 when the hotel will become the Fairmont Carton House.

Carton House was built in 1739, making it the oldest Fairmont property. It will be the fourth of the brand in the UK & Ireland, joining The Savoy in London, Fairmont St Andrews in Scotland and the Fairmont Windsor Park, also due to open this year.

With more than 80 locations around the world, Fairmont is known for grand and imposing properties, many steeped in history and focal points for their regions, with Fairmont Carton House pitched as a leading luxury golf and spa resort.

The hotel will have 170 bedrooms and suites, two world-class 18-hole championship golf courses, extensive wellness facilities and 1,000sq m of conference and events space.

Accor Northern Europe COO Thomas Dubaere said: “The signing of Fairmont Carton House reflects our expertise in the luxury segment and reinforces our commitment to growing our luxury offering across the UK and Ireland.”
