Stansted – Dakar with Air Senegal

The UK’s only direct service to the Senegalese capital of Dakar will open up from 26 June with the start of an Air Senegal Airbus A321 three-times-weekly service from Stansted. It is the airline’s first ever UK operation.

The news has been welcomed by organisations and businesses in the region who say the flight will give local firms the chance to develop new trade and investment opportunities.

Stansted chief commercial officer Aboudy Nasser said: “This is another new long-haul destination to add to Stansted’s departure boards to connect people and businesses from the region to a new and important market.

“The flight will also give people and businesses the opportunity to connect on to flights to several countries across Africa via Air Senegal’s Dakar hub, including the Gambia, Sierra Leone, Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, Mali, Guinea and Nigeria.”

Essex International head Peter Manning said: “I encourage businesses in our region to use this new air route to Dakar as an opportunity to take a closer look at the vast continent of Africa as a potential new export and investment market.”

Dakar is the latest in a series of new routes recently announced by Stansted, which include Mumbai, Tel Aviv, Amritsar, Istanbul and Reykjavik.
