Four more Wizz cities for Edinburgh

Four popular destinations in eastern Europe have joined the Wizz Air line-up of destinations served from Edinburgh Airport, with a special send-off for the inaugural flight to Budapest. Warsaw, Gdańsk and Bucharest are the other newcomers.

Wizz Air UK managing director Owain Jones said: “We are delighted to be offering our Scottish customers the chance to travel on our low-fare network to these four fantastic places, all with unique history, architecture, food and nightlife.”

“These new services mark an increase in capacity of almost 250,000 seats on Wizz Air’s Scottish routes in 2020 and we look forward to welcoming passengers on board our young, green and ultra-efficient aircraft fleet.”

Wizz Air’s low-fare network now connects UK passengers on 103 routes in 27 countries.

Edinburgh Airport chief executive Gordon Dewar added: “It’s always exciting to welcome another new airline to Edinburgh Airport, especially one like Wizz Air which has one of the youngest and most efficient aircraft fleet in the industry.

“Yet again we are offering choice to passengers, giving them the ability to look at new destinations and new routes and explore the world.”

The Edinburgh expansion follows Wizz Air’s launch of services between Southend Airport and Vilnius in Lithuania along with Bucharest, Sibiu and Iași in Romania (BTN 25 November 2019).
