SIA to launch Singapore – Brussels

More network expansion is in the air at Singapore Airlines (SIA) with non-stop Airbus A350-900 services set to begin later this year three times a week between Singapore and the carrier’s latest European destination, Brussels.

Tan Kai Ping: A commitment to growth.

Subject to regulatory approval, flights will depart Singapore on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays with the return sectors departing Brussels on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Senior vice-president marketing planning Tan Kai Ping said: “We are excited to launch services to Brussels – a city that is both an important economic and political hub in Europe.

“This launch also represents SIA’s commitment constantly to expand our network reach and provide our customers with a more seamless travel experience.”

He added: “Brussels’ geographical location makes it an ideal hub for rail, road and air traffic, easily justifying the city its nickname as the crossroads of Europe.

“The introduction of the new route also allows SIA to enhance the Benelux countries’ connection to Singapore with non-stop flights from Amsterdam, Dusseldorf and Brussels.”

■ Elsewhere, SIA is introducing a fifth weekly flight to Kolkata (India) from 29 March. The airline’s regional wing, SilkAir, will cease services to the city on the same day. SIA currently operates four weekly flights and SilkAir three weekly flights to Kolkata.
