A new link between eastern England and eastern Europe has been forged as Stansted celebrated its first scheduled flight to Moscow with the launch of a new direct service by Russian carrier Ural Airlines.
The company, one of Russia’s leading carriers serving nearly 10m passengers a year across 200 destinations with a fleet of 46 aircraft, is flying to Domodedovo Airport four times a week using a 160-seat Airbus A320 with Business and Economy Class.
Stansted chief commercial officer Aboudy Nasser said: “We’re delighted to welcome another new airline recognising the fantastic opportunity our airport provides to connect with one of the UK’s most successful and fastest growing regions.
“We have another destination of particular interest to business passengers to add to our already extensive route network and an exciting new service providing convenient and cost-effective direct access to Moscow from Stansted for the very first time.”
Ural Airlines chief commercial officer Kirill Skuratov added: “We look forward to working with Stansted to make this new partnership a great success leading to further growth and more opportunities in the future.”
