Just when you think you’ve heard everything the travel business has to offer, up comes something else.
A survey run by the Lottoland company asked entrants for their most sought-after travel experience. One and two on the list? No problem – seeing the Northern Lights and travelling on the Orient Express.
BTN found number three a puzzle, though – going to Chernobyl. The site of a nuclear disaster seems a strange choice for a visit, though a recent TV reconstruction might have something to do with it.
Lottoland explained by saying Brits are now ditching traditional holidays in favour of “more remote destinations which offer never-seen-before activities, sights and scenery”. In Chernobyl's case, that seems to be putting it mildly.
More traditional must-sees on the list included Walt Disney World in Florida, a stay in an over-water bungalow in the Maldives and island-hopping in Greece.
