Kempinski opens in Nanjing

European style in the heart of the Ming capital has arrived in China with the opening of the 336-room Kempinski Hotel Nanjing, positioned according to the company for “the modern business traveller”.

Inspired by the rich history of the ancient Chinese capital, the hotel is at the centre of the city’s bustling commercial centre and iconic cultural landmarks including the Purple Mountain to the east and floating lights of the Qinhuai River to the west.

Kempinski chief operating officer for Asia Michael Henssler said the property represented the “new generation” of Kempinski hotels designed with both business travellers and the local community in mind.

He added: “As the 20th property in our China portfolio, Kempinski Hotel Nanjing is testament to the value and prestige of the Kempinski brand and we look forward to continuing to bring our signature hospitality to new audiences.”

Offering 11 different room categories, the property features luxury fittings, a premium audio system, work desks and free wi-fi as well a health club, swimming pool, steam rooms and massage and beauty treatments.

For business travellers, the hotel, a short walk from the commercial Xinjiekou Square district, the hotel features more than 2,000sq m of flexible meeting and event spaces and an Executive Lounge.
