Aviation focus at World Travel Market

Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, World Travel Market (WTM) London opens today, 4 November, at ExCeL in Docklands and continues tomorrow and Wednesday.

As well as introducing global travel buyers to more than 5,000 destinations and travel brands, this year’s WTM London has a full events programme of lectures and presentations, including several with an aviation theme.

In them, John Strickland of JLS Consulting will be chairing a series of airline industry interviews with key players and looking at the main topics at this year's show, beginning on Tuesday at 10:00 in the European Inspiration zone with a discussion with Wizz Air CEO Joszef Varadi.

Also on Tuesday at 14:00 and in the same location, Strickland talks to Virgin Atlantic CEO Shai Weiss about the airline's ambitions for Heathrow and, among other points, Virgin's Flybe involvement and introduction of the Airbus A350.

On Wednesday at 15:00, again in the European Inspiration zone, Strickland will chair a session on forthcoming challenges for the airline industry and then discuss the rapid technological and digital developments at airports with Schiphol chief digital officer Henk Jan Gerzee and London City Airport director of corporate affairs Liam McKay.
