In a major boost for UK regional airports in the aftermath of the Thomas Cook collapse, an additional 2m seats are being offered by TUI for next summer while creating jobs for more than 100 pilots and over 200 cabin crew.
Airports involved include Manchester, Doncaster Sheffield, Birmingham, Newcastle and Glasgow, with Manchester accounting for almost a quarter of the additional capacity with an extra 440,000 seats over 20 extra flying days.
Manchester flights will serve a total of 16 destinations including Orlando, Punta Cana (Dominican Republic), Lanzarote and Izmir.
Other highlights of the TUI expansion include an extra 136,000 seats from Doncaster Sheffield with new flights to Fuerteventura and Heraklion and the addition of 10- and 11-night departures to Ibiza, Larnaca and Reus plus more flights to Antalya, Palma and Zakynthos.
Bristol Airport will see flights to several new destinations including Izmir, Girona and Almeria plus additional flying days to TUI’s most popular destinations including Antalya, Dalaman, Palma, Tenerife and Larnaca.
In addition, 10- and 11-night departures to destinations including Orlando, Bodrum and Skiathos will be added for next summer, bringing the total of extra seats from Bristol next summer to 266,000.
