Last Wednesday (25 September), Virgin Atlantic departed Heathrow for Tel Aviv, introducing a daily service to the business capital of Israel.
Virgin says that one-third of the passengers were connecting and this high ratio is likely to grow given its code-share operations with sister company Delta Air Lines.
The route is the carrier’s shortest by far at only 5hr-plus, but passengers in all cabins gain a full dining service.
Virgin will also be serving kosher meals on the flights but emphasises pre-booking would very much help with the catering demand.
Vice-president customer experience Daniel Kerzner said: “We are going out of our way to make sure passengers’ needs on this new route are to the extremely high award-winning standard for which the airline is famous. We are very flexible on what is on offer for a 5hr-plus flight and would be very interested to gain customers’ feedback.”
Virgin is using an Airbus A330 on the route offering Upper Class, Premium and Economy Light, Classic and Delight.
Upper Class passengers can be driven to the special Virgin facility at Heathrow Terminal 3 where a porter will take their luggage and direct them straight into the check-in area and lift to the Clubhouse. Pre-booked private cars can use the facility too.
