Avis Budget in app upgrade deal
A deal to connect around 14,000 vehicles to its European fleet, allowing clients to manage rentals via app, has been signed by the Avis Budget Group with Ford Commercial Solutions.
Among other benefits, the mobile app enables customers to choose the type of vehicle they want to rent as well as upgrade and extend the duration of their rentals from their phones.
The system also means returns are automated, allowing customers to drop off vehicles with one tap, while the connected vehicles will provide telemetry data including mileage, fuel level and vehicle condition updates in real time.
Avis Budget international fleet services director Valerie Chenivesse said: “With more than 35,000 Ford vehicles connected in our US fleet, this expansion in Europe is a significant milestone in our commitment to have a fully connected global fleet.
“Connectivity allows us to increase efficiencies as a business, delivering a more streamlined and on-demand experience for our customers.”
To connect its embedded telematics solution, Ford Commercial Solutions is using the Transportation Mobility Cloud from Autonomic, an open platform that securely manages information flow to and from vehicles’ embedded modems.
