Scandic doubles up in Copenhagen

In its second new hotel opening in the city in less than a year, Scandic Hotels is expanding its presence in Copenhagen with the opening of the historic hotel and event venue Scandic Falkoner in the Frederiksberg theatre district.

Following a two-year renovation, the property now has twice the accommodation capacity, with 334 Nordic-style rooms and special details inspired by the world of entertainment.

With its central location, the hotel offers proximity to shopping, cafés, restaurants and green spaces. It also features a new restaurant and bar of its own targeting city dwellers and visitors alike.

In connection with the hotel, Scandic will also run the Falkoner Centre conference and event venue. With a capacity of nearly 3,000 people, it has in the past hosted artists such as the Rolling Stones, Louis Armstrong and Leonard Cohen.

Scandic chief executive for Denmark Søren Faerber said: “We look forward to welcoming travellers and conference guests to the iconic Scandic Falkoner and creating experiences to rival the fabulous events the venue has hosted in the past.”

Scandic launched a new 370-room hotel in the Kødbyen area of Vesterbro last September and there are plans to open three more properties in the city in the coming years.
