Two more for Travelodge UK
Two new hotels in Winchester and Letchworth have been opened by Travelodge as the company pursues its latest expansion programme. The properties represent an investment of nearly £15m and have created 35 jobs.
Winchester Travelodge, sited near the cathedral, has 62 rooms. Features include a Business Floor and the brand’s new “premium economy” SuperRooms (below), which offer special amenities for business travellers (BTN 5 November 2018).
The Winchester hotel is the first of two the company plans to open in Hampshire this year, with the second scheduled for Gosport by December.
The Letchworth Travelodge has 73 rooms and a signature onsite Bar-Café restaurant, plus free parking. It is the first to be opened in Hertfordshire, with eight more to follow.
The arrival of the two latest properties gives Travelodge a portfolio of 583 hotels across the UK, Ireland and Spain, with plans to open in another 100 locations over the next five years.
• Travelodge Hotels Asia launched its first hotel in Singapore last week with the rebranding of the Bay Hotel to Travelodge Harbourfront Singapore. The hotel will undergo a major refurbishment and rebranding and is expected to open in the fourth quarter of this year.
