A 48-storey skyscraper in Shenzhen last week became the new home of the latest Hyatt Hotels footprint in China with the opening of the Park Hyatt Shenzhen in the Futian central business district.
Within walking distance of the convention centre and surrounded by corporate offices and luxury shops, the hotel is 3km (1.8mi) from Futian Checkpoint, with direct access to metro lines, the Futian high speed train station and Hong Kong services.
The hotel has 195 guestrooms and suites on floors 36 to 44 of the skyscraper (below), ranging from 516sq ft (48sq m) to 3,229sq ft (299sq m) and with floor-to-ceiling windows displaying views of the city.
Designed by New York-based architectural firm Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates (KPF), the building is meant to resemble a dynamic glass and steel butterfly with its wings spread against the Shenzhen skyline.
Other features of the hotel include more than 16,000sq ft (1,500sq m) of residential-style event space with natural light, pre-function areas and facilities including personalised planning and customised menus.
Food and drink areas include the Garden Pavilion on Level 33 specialising in classic Cantonese cuisine as well as Sichuan and Jiangnan specialties and the informal Glasshouse on Level 47.
