Jolly named to head Stobart Air

Industry veteran Andy Jolly has been appointed managing director of Stobart Air after serving as acting MD for the past month. He was previously the carrier’s chief operating officer.

He has worked in aviation for more than 30 years in a variety of operations and commercial roles including chief operating officer with Loganair and general manager at Hebridean Air Services. He joined Stobart Air in 2015.

Previous Stobart Air managing director Graeme Buchanan becomes chief financial officer of the new Connect Airways, in which Stobart has a 30% stake, while SAS Ireland technical director Peter McKenna joins as chief operating officer on 1 November.

McKenna, who holds dual Irish and Australian nationality, has a track record operating in a number of senior managerial, technical and engineering roles with Virgin Australia, Aer Arann, Aer Lingus and SkyWest Aviation (Ireland).

Jolly said: “I am very pleased to be taking on the leadership of Stobart Air and the very strong team that I have as we face exciting new opportunities and challenges ahead of us.”

Connect Airways CEO Mark Anderson added: “Andy and Peter will bring significant talent to Stobart Air in their new roles. I wish them every success as they continue to grow the business.”
