More check-in and parking for Stansted

A new check-in area with eight desks and a first multi-storey car park have been unveiled at Stansted as part of the airport’s ongoing transformation project. It takes the number of check-in desks opened as part of the developments to 20.

The airport’s business change director for the project, Paul Willis, said: “The new check-in area looks fantastic, and have received a big thumbs up from the passengers who have used them so far.

“They are in a ‘shoreline’ configuration which means the new desks are directly in front of passengers when they enter the terminal. We’ve also installed new floor tiles at the check-in zone to help passengers navigate where they need to go.

“The new layout will give passengers a more intuitive and easier journey through the airport and provide more flexibility to allow us to accommodate new airlines in the future.”

The next phase of Stansted’s transformation will see a further eight desks open in the autumn.

The airport’s first multi-storey car park this week has 2,700 spaces on six floors, all within a short walking distance of the terminal. It boosts the number of short-stay car parking spaces available at the airport to more than 7,000.
