The next century of aviation

A first-of-its-kind exhibition based on global research identifying what aviation could look like over the next 100 years goes on show at the Saatchi Gallery in London from 1-26 August in a collaboration between British Airways and the Royal College of Art.

BA 2119: Flight of the Future seeks to explore how future generations will travel in a world of advanced jet propulsion, hyper personalisation, automation, AI, modular transport, sustainability, health and entertainment.

The exhibition includes an immersive virtual-reality experience, Fly, where gallery visitors can experience mankind’s relationship with flight and will be launched with a panel event with top futurists, designers and aviation specialists.

The project has seen 40 postgraduate students from the Royal College of Art working to imagine the future of flight in both digital and physical form, exploring trends and drivers from the research to look ahead through three lenses – aircraft, experience and people.

BA chairman and CEO Alex Cruz said: “To mark our forthcoming anniversary, we want to take our passengers with us as we look forward to the next 100 years.

“The exhibition explores what the customer experience of the future will look like, pushing the boundaries of imagination and exploring how we, and future generations, will travel the globe.”
