Users of London City Airport from Westminster (30min according to Google Maps) will be delighted to learn that from next March they will be able to pick up messages, check-in and learn of any delays while on the Jubilee Line between that station and Canning Town. Transport for London (TfL) is to introduce a trial section, which will cover the platforms and tunnels between the two interchanges. It will build on the existing free wi-fi service that TfL offers at 260 wi-fi-enabled London Underground stations and on TfL Rail services.
The service will also cover ticket halls and corridors within stations along this section of the Jubilee line, with the exception of London Bridge and Waterloo which, subject to final approvals, will be added later during 2020.
Once onto the DLR, travellers can autoswitch to any airtime system contracted with.
London First CEO Jasmine Whitbread said “We look forward to the transformative impact that further projects to improve digital infrastructure on the London Underground will have for the capital, including the programme to deliver better, more real-time customer information throughout the Tube network.”
