With the 2019 Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) about to take off from 19-21 July at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire, the Air League is seeking volunteers to help to run its stand – with free access to the event and a lunch allowance as perks.
This year’s edition of what has been called “the world's greatest airshow” will be a special one with a variety of one-off features, including the final UK performance this summer of the RAF Red Arrows before they jet off to North America.
As well as contributing their familiar aerobatics, they will be taking part in joint flypast with a British Airways Boeing B747 in BOAC colours as a tribute to the part the airline has played in Britain’s airline heritage (BTN 17 June).
The jumbo jet, one of three painted in vintage designs to mark BA’s birthday, will join the RAF team during the flying programme on the show’s second day, Saturday 20 July.
The heart of RIAT 2019 will as usual be the flying displays, complemented by a wide range of activities on the showground, including this year a new attraction in the shape of a giant observation wheel for never-before-seen views of all the activity.
