Scotland air routes boost

A big boost for winter air services between Heathrow and Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen was announced by British Airways last week. The increased schedule involves almost 200 flights a week from 27 October this year until next March.

Weekly Edinburgh – Heathrow flights will go up by three to 69; Glasgow – Heathrow will see 63 return services a week, an increase of five compared with winter 2018/19, and Aberdeen – Heathrow flights will increase by three a week to 50.

BA has already announced it will also operate a double-daily on the Inverness – Heathrow route from October. In all, the number of BA flights between Scotland’s four main airports and Heathrow will total 196 a week, 11 more than last winter.

The airline says it operates more services a week to and from Scotland via Heathrow, Gatwick and London City airports than any other part of its global route network.

Director of networks and alliances Neil Chernoff said: “BA has served Scotland, its people and its businesses for more than 60 years and connected Scotland with more than 150 world destinations from Heathrow, 90 from Gatwick and 30 from London City.”
