In a continuing expansion across Europe, Hyatt is opening the first hotel in its newly-acquired Alila division in western Switzerland in 2023 with a new property in La Gruyère. It will have 85 rooms and 27 residences and incorporate a wellness retreat.
Guido Fredrich, Hyatt's regional vice president of development for Europe, said: “The Alila brand offers tremendous potential for growth in Europe by responding to the increasing trend of eco-tourism and wellness travel.
“Alila La Gruyère, in a unique location surrounded by pristine nature, will share the brand’s philosophy of creating authentic experiences and personalised guest services that are rooted in the destination and guided by local experts.”
Hyatt took over the Alila brand last year after acquiring the international lifestyle hotel management company Two Roads Hospitality, whose portfolio also includes the Destination, Joie de Vivre, Thompson and tommie brands.
The La Gruyère project follows a management agreement with Resort 4 SA. General manager Urs Müller said: “We are delighted to work with Hyatt to introduce a new concept to the region and create a world-class destination that will take the travel experience to the next level."
