Gdansk joins Wizz Gatwick line-up

A fourth destination from Gatwick was added to the Wizz Air portfolio this month with the carrier beginning daily services to and from Gdansk. Flown by 230-seat A321s, the 1,299km sector joins Budapest, Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca.

Head of marketing Tamara Vallois said: “Wizz Air is the largest low-cost carrier in Central and Eastern Europe in terms of weekly seats, so the continued strengthening of our relationship with Gatwick is a cornerstone of the airport’s strategy in unlocking further market potential in this region.”

Gatwick head of airline relations Stephen King added: “From a standing start in June 2016, when Wizz Air began daily flights from Bucharest, we have become the carrier’s third largest operation in the UK.

“With the start of our fourth destination to Gdansk, a previously-unserved route from Gatwick, the airport will now offer 23 destinations in Central and Eastern Europe this summer, and nearly 34,000 weekly seats to the region.”

Gatwick now offers direct flights to two Polish destinations, with Gdansk joining the existing operations to Krakow. Weekly seats to Poland now total 3,356 with the country becoming the 27th largest country market of the 64 flown from Gatwick this summer.
