A380 and the Aviation Club
Aircraft leasing and charters will be in the spotlight at the Aviation Club UK summer lunch on 12 June when guest speaker will be Paulo Mirpuri, president and CEO of the Portuguese charter airline Hi Fly.
The company made headlines in February when it received the first of two new Airbus A330-990neos, becoming the first wet-lease non-scheduled operator of the aircraft. Hi Fly is the only non-scheduled operator of the Airbus A380.
Sustainability is also high on the agenda for Hi Fly. It facilitated the world’s first single-use plastic-free flight and a subsequent 16 further trial flights as part of a long-standing commitment to be single-use plastic-free on all flights by the end of 2019.
The company says it is actively implementing and promoting good practice across its business, as shown by the carbon-neutral target which it aims to achieve through an adjustment of operational procedures, new technology and a carbon offset programme under development with the Mirpuri Foundation.
Mirpuri has accumulated more than 28 years’ experience in the aviation industry through top executive roles with several airlines. He has also been engaged on the support side of the industry including aircraft trading, inflight catering, aircraft handling and maintenance.
