On the heels of saluting the St Regis Hong Kong as its 7,000th property (BTN 15 April), Marriott International has opened the 1,000th location for its Fairfield by Marriott brand, the second in its portfolio after Courtyard by Marriott to reach this figure.
The latest Fairfield is in Denver and follows rapid growth by the brand in China, Japan, Mexico, India and the US. Officials say the growth is expected to continue, with a target of more than 300 hotels opening by 2021.
Chief development officer for North America Eric Jacobs said: “Fairfield is a powerhouse brand for franchisees and guests and resonates with travellers who seek a comfortable, uncomplicated and consistent experience.”
Fairfield by Marriott was inspired by the Marriott family’s weekend retreat, the Fairfield Farm in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia which Marriott Corporation founder J. W. Marriott and his wife Alice bought in 1951.
The brand is following up its expansion with the launch of a new logo and communications platform and new décor package backed by the “Fairfield Guarantee”, which includes a free hot breakfast and “a good night’s sleep”.
