Thomas Cook Airlines luggage deal

Thousands more passengers travelling through Gatwick can now check-in their baggage from the comfort of their homes with Thomas Cook Airlines joining the roster of carriers that have signed up with the specialist Airportr service.

Customers book a collection slot online and the luggage is sealed and checked-in at their homes, typically the day before they fly, from any address in London or the surrounding area.

AirPortr delivers the luggage to the flight, so customers travel to the airport bag-free and head straight to security. They are kept informed on location and status of the bags via email and SMS and next see their luggage at the carousel in the destination airport.

Thomas Cook Group Airline head of product Andrew Gillies said: “We explore anything that can make flying with us an even smoother experience and we hope to expand the Airportr service to more UK departure airports soon.”

Airportr CEO Randel Darby added: “Home bag check-in is a perfect fit, allowing customers to start their journeys the moment they leave the house. Travelling without bags and skipping airport queues makes the flying process so much more enjoyable.”

American Airlines, Cathay Pacific, easyJet, Virgin Atlantic and Finnair are among carriers to have joined the AirPortr digital platform in London.
