Scheduled services from East Midlands Airport introducing two new routes to Brussels and Inverness are being launched by Loganair on 2 September in a further expansion following flybmi halting operations.
Brussels will have a morning and afternoon rotation from Mondays to Thursdays and an afternoon service on Fridays and Sundays. Inverness will be served with six flights a week.
Loganair says the Brussels service has been timed to allow business passengers a full day in Europe with a flight time of 1hr 10min and convenient connections with a wide range of air and rail links. Journey time on the Inverness route is 1hr 35min. Previously operated by flybmi, services between Brussels and East Midlands were halted on 16 February.
Loganair managing director Jonathan Hinkles said: “I am extremely pleased to announce the expansion of our route map while also beginning passenger services from East Midlands Airport.
“Both these convenient airlinks will benefit the overall region, connecting with Belgium’s largest city – home to thousands of multinational businesses – while Scotland’s highlands are now just over 90min away”
Loganair currently operates freight services from East Midlands Airport but this announcement marks the first time it has provided passenger flights from the region.
