A conference centre close to Stansted Airport is undergoing a major refurbishment to enhance its facilities. More than £1m is being invested in The West Wing at Down Hall country house hotel on the Essex/Hertfordshire border.
Handy for Stansted: The new-look Down Hall.
All the wing’s event rooms are being refurbished, creating 4,150sq m of event space with six function rooms and a master suite. New features include a separate entrance through a landscaped garden and a private lounge bar.
Room furnishings have been designed to complement the historic architecture of the main house with luxury materials and newly-designed lighting and furniture as well as what the hotel calls “all the latest cutting-edge technology”.
General manager Mark O’Reilly said: “Huge investment is being made in all the function rooms and common areas to develop our West Wing and ensure Down Hall becomes one of the finest conference and event facilities in the country.
“The wing also boasts 54 attractive en-suite bedrooms, some of which provide access to an intimate lounge area allowing conference delegates or guests at events to socialise before and after business.”
