Major expansion for DoubleTree

Following what it calls recent “tremendous growth”, the DoubleTree by Hilton brand is planning to expand its footprint worldwide this year, with nearly half of its 200 planned hotels located in the Asia Pacific region.

Fourteen new DoubleTree by Hilton properties are scheduled to open across China, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia, Sri Lanka and New Zealand, adding to more than 500 hotels currently in a global portfolio across 45 countries.

Senior vice-president and global head Shawn McAteer said the brand, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2019, was leading the way by opening its first property in Sri Lanka and adding hotels in Perth, Western Australia, and Surabaya, Indonesia.

Hilton says it is also leading the hotel construction pipeline in China – DoubleTree is the second fastest-growing brand in the region with more than 100 planned projects and a total of almost 27,000 rooms.

Hilton vice-president of brand management for Asia Pacific Sean Wooden said: “Having reached the milestone of 50 DoubleTree by Hilton properties in Asia Pacific in 2018, we are looking forward to continuing our upward trajectory.”
