Scotland Yard becomes a hotel

The instantly-recognisable building that housed London’s Metropolitan Police before the force moved to new headquarters is on schedule to reopen this summer as a luxury lifestyle hotel with 153 rooms.

Great Scotland Yard is due to become the first of Hyatt’s new Unbound Collection of hotels in the UK, following the launch of the brand in 2016. Four more properties in Europe have also been recruited.

Hyatt says the London property plus Nish Palas in Istanbul, Hôtel Martinez in Cannes, Párisi Udvar Hotel in Budapest and the newly-renovated Hôtel du Louvre in Paris all fit the Unbound Collection aim to offer “distinctive adventures for guests in luxury surroundings”.

Regional senior vice-president Peter Norman said: “The Unbound Collection brand offers tremendous potential for growth in the European market, enabling us to team up with new owners and developers and furthers the foundation they’ve developed with their individual hotel brands.

“We also know guests are increasingly seeking authentic and one-of-a-kind experiences and have a desire to stay at properties that have a story to tell while creating new stories of their own.”

Meanwhile, Hyatt plans to open its first property in Ireland this summer in the shape of the Hyatt Centric The Liberties in the centre of Dublin, aimed at what the company calls “eager-to-explore, millennial-minded guests”.

"Here for business or Arrest" ? also... "Will you be joining us for the set Truncheon" ? also..."We issue digital cards for your room doors because the last hotel owners had a habit of locking the doors and throwing away the key".... ...that's all folks...unless you know anymore ?
