An upgraded mobile app that updates passengers at each step of a journey has been introduced by United Airlines with the aim of “making managing travel easier from booking to landing”.
Already the top downloaded airline app for Apple and Android phones, the refreshed version retains popular features such as bag tracking while offering enhancements including a navigation bar for quick access to useful tools such as flight status.
Also new is a ‘My Trips’ tab in the navigation bar that allows passengers to access information about their forthcoming trips and stores boarding passes when passengers are checked in for their flights.
There is also an inbox that stores important notifications that United sends customers about their flights, such as if a flight status changes, gate changes and alerts about when boarding for a flight has begun.
Executive vice-president of technology and chief digital officer Linda Jojo said: "Every day we are using technology to improve our customers' experience and making more information available to our customers at the swipe of a finger.
"With this updated app, we are setting out to bring more improvements that are meaningful to all our customers, whether they travel every week, or only once a year.”
