Aviation's premier yearly security event, the AVSEC World conference, organised by IATA, will take “Disrupters and Enablers to Aviation Security” as its theme for the 2019 gathering in Miami on 26-28 February.
IATA senior vice-president for airport, passenger cargo and security Nick Careen said: "Innovations in security screening technology, passenger processing and risk management have contributed to improvements in aviation security and the customer experience.
“But challenges to aviation security are constantly evolving. Keeping a step ahead of security threats requires even greater collaboration by government and industry. AVSEC World puts the top issues in aviation security on the table for a broad range of stakeholders to gain insights on which to base critical decisions.”
Keynote speakers include IATA director-general and CEO Alexandre de Juniac, US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) administrator David Pekoske, and New York Police Department intelligence bureau commander Chief Thomas Galati.
Also on the platform will be Henrik Hololei, director-general, of the Directorate General Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE) of the European Commission.
Other conference features will include talks on balancing biometrics facilitation and security; aviation cyber-security and beyond; screening challenges and solutions; inflight security and safety, and the Latin American Regional Pathway.
There will also be a workshop in partnership with the ICAO working group on innovation in aviation security.
