More routes for Blue Islands

Two new low-cost services linking Guernsey direct to London and north-west England are being launched shortly with Blue Islands adding a daily service to and from Southend from 20 May and twice-weekly Liverpool flights from 21 May.

CEO Rob Veron said: “As an independent local airline, the addition of these low-cost services demonstrates our commitment to serving the Channel Islands as we continue to develop our route network sustainably and invest in our air links.”

With the Southend service, the airline is stressing the fast and easy access to central London and the City thanks to the closeness of high frequency and low-cost rail services at the airport’s own train station metres from the terminal.

The new Liverpool service will operate twice-weekly services on Tuesdays and Saturdays as a gateway to two major business cities, the second being Manchester, as well as the Lake District and other areas in the north west.

Guernsey Airport general manager ports Colin Le Ray said: “Increasing passenger numbers through Guernsey Airport remains a key objective for us in 2019 and these routes will offer more choice and opportunities for visitors and residents alike”.
