Wow moves from Gatwick to Stansted

In further rationalisation moves, Wow air is moving its Gatwick service to Stansted with effect from 31 March and is downsizing its US network further. It follows a decision to reduce the fleet and trim staff by 10% (BTN 17 December 2018).

The new schedule from Stansted will see daily flights to Keflavik depart at 11:20, allowing passengers to make onward connections to the US and Canada. Wow is also reintroducing its three-a-week Edinburgh – Keflavik route from June.

In the US, the Icelandic carrier is cutting services to Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York JFK and Dallas Fort Worth this year. This follows the scrapping of flights to Cincinnati, Cleveland and St Louis, which end this month.

The airline said before Christmas there would be no schedule changes in December and early January. A new schedule is due to be implemented later this month, with Wow saying it will contact passengers affected by the changes.

The airline said it planned to continue operating its remaining routes including Baltimore, Boston, Newark, Orlando and Chicago O'Hare. Talks with investment specialist Indigo Partners over a possible cash injection are continuing.
