New services from Heathrow, Paris CDG and Frankfurt to the Uzbek capital Tashkent are being launched by Air Astana via its Astana hub from the start of its summer schedule on 29 March next year.
Flights originating from Heathrow will operate three times weekly, from Frankfurt four times weekly and from Paris twice weekly, with timings optimised for seamless transfers to Tashkent through Astana’s newly-completed airport terminal.
Marketing and sales vice-president Richard Ledger said: “We are delighted to be able to offer service to Tashkent from three of our European departure airports on what we believe will be a highly popular route.
“Interest and business potential in the Silk Road destinations continues to grow and the addition of Tashkent offers passengers the perfect opportunity to combine a visit to Kazakhstan with Uzbekistan to explore further the region and its fascinating history.”
Air Astana was also in the news last week with the arrival of its first new-generation Embraer E190-E2. It is the first of five on order to take over from older E190s currently operating domestic and low-density regional services, with the first aircraft having entered service in 2011 (BTN last week).
