Marriott International has marked the debut of its lifestyle AC Hotels brand in the Middle East and Africa region with the opening of the AC Hotel Cape Town Waterfront in South Africa.
Owned and developed by the Amdec Group, the 188-room property is within walking distance of the Cape Town International Convention Centre and the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and a 25min drive from Cape Town International Airport.
Features include four flexible meeting rooms, a boardroom with a total of 250sq m of event space and sustainability initiatives with a desalination plant, sensor lighting to save power, heat pumps to supply hot water and biodegradable packaging.
Marriott regional managing director Alex Kyriakidis said the opening reinforced the company’s commitment to driving growth for its lifestyle brands in South Africa.
The Yacht Club mixed-use development, including the AC Hotel, is the second property in Amdec’s portfolio of precincts to welcome Marriott brands, with Melrose Arch in Johannesburg the first and Harbour Arch in Cape Town to follow.
Protea Hotels by Marriott, Marriott Hotels, the Autograph Collection, Westin and Sheraton are some of the other brands the hotel group has in South Africa.
