Passenger services at Helsinki Airport will be topped up with a new pay-in lounge, Plaza Premium Lounge, opening in February 2019 at the non-Schengen terminal as part of a new central plaza in the terminal extension.
Airport operator Finavia said the choice of who would run the lounge was important for Helsinki as the airport is ranked consistently as the best in northern Europe and Plaza Premium was the world’s largest independent lounge network.
The Helsinki outlet (below) will be available to departing, transiting and arriving passengers and feature comfortable seating, a live kitchen, bar, showers, recharging stations, free wi-fi, computer workstations and a children’s zone for family travellers.
Plaza business development director Jonathan Song said: “Our decision to expand to Helsinki Airport was a natural one with Finland a major transit hub offering the shortest route between Europe and Asia.
“This partnership will be another major milestone in achieving our global ambitions and we look forward to extending our airport hospitality expertise in our third market in Europe.”
Elena Stenholm, vice-president of commercial services at the airport added: “We work hard with our partners to ensure a smooth, high-quality travel experience. Plaza Premium Lounge is a wonderful new addition to our ever-growing range of services.”
