FLYGLOBESPAN, the air travel operator of the Globespan travel business has collapsed leaving something like 100,000 in limbo regarding their future bookings and insurance remedies. 3,000 passengers booked under an ATOL, and already overseas, are being brought back by the CAA. This is the second time that an airline controlled by Edinburgh-based Tom Dalrymple has failed. In 1996 Excalibur Airways, where he was chairman, also went into administration following financial difficulties and technical problems with one of their aircraft. What makes the problem worse this time around its that many passengers have then had to scramble for seats with the possibility of a BA strike looming up. PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has been appointed administrator for the Globespan Group plc. www.flyglobespan.com
