Guillaume Faury has been named by Airbus to replace Tom Enders as CEO from next April. Faury, 50, joined as president of Airbus Commercial Aircraft eight months ago with his appointment continuing a senior management reshuffle yet to be completed.
COO Fabrice Bregier left in February, while chief financial officer Harald Wilhelm departs next year. Another post to be filled is chief salesman after Eric Schulz, formerly at Rolls-Royce, left last month after just nine months in the post.
Enders remains in post until the Airbus AGM on 10 April 2019, when the appointment of Faury as executive member of the board will be submitted to shareholders.
Enders described his successor as “an excellent choice”. He added: “He has gained broad industrial and aeronautic experience over many years and in many roles both inside and outside Airbus.
“With his strong values and international mindset, (Faury) stands for the new generation of leaders that Airbus needs for the coming decade.”
Airbus board chairman Denis Ranque said: “We have diligently prepared for this succession, reaching a unanimous conclusion after a thorough examination of all potential candidates, internal and external. We are delighted to be appointing someone of Guillaume’s calibre to take the helm.”
